National Pet Week kicked off this week with the theme “Happiness is a Healthy Pet.”
The AVMA encourages pet owners to celebrate this year by giving their pets the care they need to live a long and happy life. Each day of National Pet Week has a different theme, such as “Love your pet? See your vet!” and “Travel with care.”
National Pet Week was created in 1981 by the AVMA and Auxiliary to the AVMA with the goal to foster responsible pet ownership, celebrate the bond between pet and pet owner, and encourage the public to recognize the value of veterinary medicine.
