A new report, CATalyst Council Feline Veterinary Market Insights: Volume V, reveals that feline clinical visits have reached a record high.
In contrast to the overall companion animal market, the feline segment demonstrated twelve consecutive quarters of growth, generating an estimated $12.7 billion in practice revenue in 2025.
Chair of CATalyst Council Kristin Wuhrman commented, “What we’re seeing is no longer a trend; rather it is a structural transformation. Practices that invest now in understanding cats more deeply, including their unique behaviors, their subtle health cues, stress physiology, and the distinct needs of their caregivers, will lead the next chapter of veterinary medicine.”
Despite this momentum, the study identifies a significant medicalization gap, estimating that only 33% of household cats received professional care in 2025 compared to 71% of dogs. CATalyst estimates that about 51 million cats did not receive veterinary care last year. This represents an untapped $21 billion in revenue.
Gina Fortunato, executive director of CATalyst Council, said, “Feline medicine has moved from an inflection point to a strategic imperative.”
