Stats from the Veterinary Industry Tracker powered by Vetsource and AVMA
May 31-June 6, 2026
A recent survey by CoVet [1] revealed that AI is increasingly being used for support with daily administrative tasks. After polling over 120 vet professionals, results show 62% of respondents feel that admin work interferes with clinical care, and over 75% report that it harms their job satisfaction.
However, according to the survey, AI may be helpful. 91% of respondents said that AI is more effective for record keeping and documentation, and 63% said AI supports client communication summaries.
The data also suggests that trust in AI is earned over time through reliability and transparency. 53% of survey respondents said their AI concerns decreased after using it and 9% said their concerns increased.
After adopting AI tools, 54% felt more control of their time and 53% felt less burnt out. Dr. Mike Mossop, co-founder and chief veterinary officer at CoVet, remarked, “Veterinary medicine has an administrative problem, not a motivation problem.”
