FWD People has published The 2025 Trust Gap Study [1] exploring the relationship between pet owners and veterinarians. After surveying over 100 veterinarians and more than 150 pet owners, FWD People found that 79% of vets say pet owners are more likely to question their advice compared to a year ago.
The role of the veterinarian may be transitioning from authority to advisor and the study explores how this dynamic could affect a pet owner’s decision making.
The study also shows that 88% of pet owners still trust their vets — by combating misinformation, veterinarians can continue to strengthen this bond.
As the relationship between vet and client continues to evolve, more strategic opportunities are opening for pet healthcare providers. FWD People suggests that by equipping teams with resources, amplifying credible information online, and reinforcing trust can help vets continue to partner with pet owners in their patients’ care.
