Veterinary Industry Summary: March 17–23, 2024

Stats from the Veterinary Industry Tracker powered by Vetsource and AVMA

March 17–23, 2024

LAST WEEK

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, year-over-year pet food inflation for February 2024 was 2.6%—a 2.2% drop from January’s 4.8%. But, pet food prices are still 22.5% higher than they were in February 2021.

Have higher pet food prices forced some pet owners to switch foods? Multiple recent surveys have revealed that most pet owners have chosen to continue feeding their pets the same food, despite higher prices.

Could pet food prices reach a point where consumer loyalty is more drastically affected?
